US SHIPPING UPDATE
Tues 19th August: Just a little update regarding shipping to the US amid the tariff situation!
I’ve now had to temporarily close off orders to US via both my Etsy and Shopify stores. Due to Trumps recent scrapping of the de minimis rule, all goods under $800 entering the US will now be subject to tax, which of course affects all post entering the US. The framework around what we need to do as sellers is still ever-changing and whilst Royal Mail have made an assuring statement which leads us to believe it will still be possible to send to the US, the systems are still not in place. With the de minimis rule due to end on the 29th of August, to ensure US customers orders aren’t sent back to me in bulk I’ve as of now temporarily closed US orders until further notice.
The good news is this won’t be forever. Whilst not ideal, it looks like going forward I will be able to collect the tax at checkout from US customers (which should be 10% of order total for UK to US orders) which will then be prepaid before entering the US to avoid no surprise fees upon receiving orders. We as small businesses are just now awaiting the system changes to be made via Royal Mail and Etsy so we can make the necessary changes and continue to ship to the US.
Like many I’m super saddened by this new hurdle for us small businesses but trying to remain positive. Obviously not the best timing as I am planning on doing one of my last two shop updates of 2025 next week, but hopefully it will only be a very short disruption and I will be able to quickly set up US shipping again following new instructions.
I will update as soon as I know more on when US shipping will be back ❤️
